You’ve all heard about the Nigerian prince scamming people out of their life savings, but what the hell is the point of this Capri girl writing me a 4 page email trying to convince me to click on a link? I don’t understand, internet.

Oh golly! I’ve started looking at videos of extreme body builders and now I can’t stop because it is morbidly fascinating and now I’m going to be late to dinner.

This week I have started my detox/boot camp/beach bod preparation. I’ve given up sugar, processed foods & alcohol. To compensate I’m only going to drink San Pellegrino with limes all summer until I am my ideal weight. Except for tonight. I am going to get sloshed tonight.

My housemate Tommy is a bit insane, and I say that with a lot of love because he is one of the best humans I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing, but he honest to god has the enthusiasm and energy of 10 people rolled into one. A couple of months back he decided it would be fun to have a shot at riding his bike all the way from Adelaide to Melbourne, shortly after he figured he might as well make a bit of an event out of it and raise some money and awareness for charity at the same time. I think it’s important to point out this out because for most people those two ideas would have happened in the reverse order.
Anyway, the idea has gained some momentum since then. His cousin Dave is going to join him on the ride and they have come up with a theme of ‘The Tortoise & Hare Bike Challenge’.
They’ll be riding 1,200kms from Adelaide to Melbourne along the South Australian/Victorian coastline in their purpose made outfits, will be self-reliant without any support crew and carrying their own gear the entire trip. They’ve set up a website - www.tortoisehareride.com and a facebook page where you can keep an eye on the lead up and progress, check out some of the promo photos they’ve done, and most importantly, donate some money to the Victorian Cancer Council which is the charity they’ve chosen to raise money for.
The ride is in November so at the moment they’re trying to spread the word and hopefully get some media attention. Obviously the more attention they can get the more money they could end up raising for the cancer council. It’s a really great cause and Tommy and his cousin Dave are great guys so if any of you wonderfful people feel like re-blogging this post or clicking through and ‘liking’ the facebook page that would be super cool.
Get on board.
